Led by internationally-acclaimed Professor Dr. Manouchehr Moshtagh Khorasani, Razmafzar has produced ground-breaking work in the reconstruction of Historical Persian Martial Arts.

The project of “Historical fencing and traditional Persian martial arts” deals with reviving the fighting techniques of Persian warriors based on an authentic and academic analysis of techniques described in Persian manuscripts from different time periods.

Reviving Persian swordsmanship and traditional martial arts of Iran is an important project that includes different combat and fighting arts that were employed by different Iranian tribes through centuries. Dr. Khorasani and the International Team of Razmafzars work in this regard is unparalleled and unprecedented.

The system is based on years of solid scientific research in the field of Iranian arms and armor and many published books and print articles related to the field. Razmafzār analyzes the application and techniques of weapons, empty-handed techniques applied on battlefields and moral codes followed by Iranian warriors such as Javānmardi principles.

Razmafzār is not only based on textual evidence but also on iconographic evidence. Razmafzār teaches historical archery based on iconographic evidence and also complete Persian manuscripts on archery from Safavid period. The techniques of this system of martial and combat arts extend from Ancient Iran to the end of the Qajar period. A number of techniques were repeated in many manuscripts be it the epic stories in form of poems, battle accounts by period court reporters or fighting manuals.

Razmafzar (traditional martial and historical weapon arts of Persia/Iran) consists of continuous and systematic training in the following sections:

Swordsmanship (Shamshir-Zani) - Archery (Tirandāzi) - Mace fighting (Gorz-Zani) - Axe fighting (Tabar-Zani) - Dagger fighting (Khanjar-Zani) - Knife fighting (Kārd-Zani) - Spear and lance fighting (Neyzeh-Zani) - Qame fighting (Qame-Zani) and Qaddāre fighting (Qaddāre-Zani) - War wrestling (Koshti-ye Jangi) - Horsemanship (Asp-Savāri)

The martial arts of Razmafzar comprises 722 techniques of armed and unarmored combat on foot plus riding, lance combat on horseback, wrestling on horseback and horse archery. Razmafzar is still working on many other Persian manuscripts on warfare and historical fighting. Currently over 40 new manuscripts are being analyzed for this purpose. Thus, discovery of new techniques is a high probability.

Ranks and curriculum of Razmafzar are as follows:

1. rank (tāzekār
2. rank (nosāxte ﻧﻮﺳﺎﺨﺗﻪ)
3. rank (sāxte ﺴﺎﺨﺘﻪ)

Protection Arm-band (Bazu-band) Amulet - Shirzad's Private Collection

An old Arm-band (Bazu-band) Amulet which is decorated with verses from the Quran. Throughout history muslim warriors would utilize various Taweezes to protect themselves during battle. It is said that even during the Afghanistan-Soviet Union war, the Mujahideen would utilize various Taweez Arm-band amulets and were thus invisible towards bullets flying towards them. In the Pahlevani tradition it is customary to award & bestow the Champions with the Pahlevani Arm-band (Bazu-band) as a gift or medal of honor.

Persian Concepts of the Sword

“To fight the darkness do not draw your sword, light a candle.”
― Zarathustra, Zartosht,

For humans and mankind it is wisdom (خرد) which allows us to evolve and survive, this is true because if size & might were important for survival humans in this day and age would be extinct instead of dinosaurs (Dragons) which used to exist and roam this planet.

Mystical Islamic Martial Arts Concepts

Sheikh Maulana Nazim el Kibrisi (ks), Defending the Truth of Islam! The Naqshbandi'ya distinguished itself by an Iron Discipline, the disciples' unquestioned obedience to the masters & teachers (sheikhs) ... One must also employ the Sword!

The Divine Attributes of Allah (swt) explore the most perfect properties and by discussing these divine attributes we can better connect to the source. One of these attributes is "Nazm/نظم" or "Discipline" & Allah (swt) is the best "Nazim/ناظم" which means "Disciplinarian” or “Organizer”. All of Allah (swt) creations in the planes of existance, universe and cosmos exhibit this order & discipline! یا ناظم - Ya Nazim! Another divine attribute of Allah (swt) is "The Sublime" (al-Ali/ٱلْعَلِىُّ) which means The Sublime/ Ever-Exalted/ Supreme/ Most Highest/ Most Lofty. Insha'Allah we will be able to have sublime love for Allah (swt) and be on the correct path (way/صراط) - Ya al-Ali!

And [Allah (swt) revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way,
We would have given them abundant provision.
-The Holy Quran (72–16)

With the power of an Elephant
You should be like an Ant!

You will then gain strength and become a man
When you see yourself less than an ant!
-Attar of Nishapur

Dedicated to the Ant Man of Sri Lanka Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (Q) who lived to be over 300 years old! Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (Ral.) used to tell us, “I am very small, smaller than an ant. I am a little Ant Man beside whom even the ants look enormous.”

Very little is known about the early life of Muhammad Raheem Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (Ral.) as his life is rife with the miraculous and supernatural and the few early accounts we do have of his life were told by Bawa himself, there are stories told of how Bawa was adopted by a wealthy and powerful king as a young boy. The king died when Bawa was six and he then inherited the king’s fortune and land. As a result, three assassins set out to kill the young Bawa in an attempt to steal his newfound wealth. However, after these assassins failed to kill Bawa, he relinquished the wealth and land of his adopted father and handed it all over to the assassins who were all three deeply impoverished. The assassins were so completely moved by the boy’s generosity and compassion that they then revered him as a saint.

He tells of how he “went looking for God in temples, churches, and mosques, going without food, drink or sleep for twenty-one years.” In one story, Bawa spent forty-one years in meditation atop a hill. In another, he spent twelve years in hermitage in the Himalayas standing on one leg. All of these extreme and chronologically befuddling attempts however, were ultimately futile. Bawa seems to use these tales as a means of highlighting how misdirected any seeking is, as is revealed to Bawa in one of his mystical experiences, God is not to be found, but experienced, felt, and perceived in the present moment.

What little hardship that is mentioned in Bawa’s autobiography revolves around his many occupations. Bawa claimed to have lived in Egypt and Iran, Jerusalem, India, and even in the mountains of China and throughout these travels took up many varied jobs.

He writes, I used to do this frequently, roaming around, doing jobs for people. In one place I worked as a laundryman for someone, in another place I cleaned the toilets carrying buckets of waste from latrines. No swami or wise man or learned teachers could ever imagine the kinds of jobs I have done… No matter what was needed, I could fit right in and do it… God assigned me these jobs, and I went to do them; that is all.

The whole of Bawa’s early life is filled with tales that ring of something torn from the pages of a storybook. Stories in which jinn and fairies are commonplace, where time ceases to exist as we know it, and miracles like raising the dead, curing blindness, or being catapulted into sublime realities to converse directly with God and his prophets are less miraculous as they are mundane. Another story tells of how Bawa settled for a time in an ashram and studied with a guru, this is the only mention of a teacher in Bawa’s life, and he eventually supplanted his teacher through his clairvoyance by revealing his teacher as a fraud. He did this all before he reached the age of 13.

For the following decade after Bawa’s discovery, he lived in the village with the pilgrim brothers and served the village as a healer and exorcist, largely for low caste Hindus. However, as time progressed and stories of his healings and services spread, he began building something of a reputation. By 1952 he had gathered a cadre of students and with their help, constructed an ashram and a sizable farm to feed his students and the poor in the surrounding area. By 1962 he was offering regular sohbet, the Sufi equivalent to the dharma talk, in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo to a predominantly wealthy Muslim crowd. This gathering eventually formed into a Sufi study circle which functions still to this day.

It was in Colombo that Bawa first encountered and took on his first western students. One such student was a close friend of Caroline Andrews, an American woman who upon hearing about Bawa began a series of correspondences with him. It was at Caroline’s behest that Bawa travelled to Philadelphia in 1971. Bawa referred to his coming to America as the “tree that fell to the west” as his roots were still in Sri Lanka, but the fruits of his practice, he said, were to be spread in the States. Bawa would travel between Sri Lanka and Philadelphia over the next 15 years, staying in America for several years at a time.

Over this time, Bawa amassed a following of over a thousand students. During his time in Philadelphia a Sufi tekke, or spiritual community, formed around him into what is now called the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship. Additionally, Bawa envisioned and oversaw the construction of a mosque on the Fellowship land which was built in 1984. Branches of the Fellowship now exist throughout the United States and Canada, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand and the U.K. And among his most notable students is the contemporary translator of the 13th century mystic Persian poet Jalalluddin Rumi, Coleman Barks.

Luckily I was fortunate enough to have visited his Blessed Mazar (Burial Site) in Philadelphia while I was living in the United States, it was the most supernatural experience of my life, as I was on my way to his Mazar I turned on the satellite radio (SiriusXM) and an electronic dance music song was playing on the radio and the DJ had mixed in the Azan (Call to Prayer) with his dance music and so on the way to his Mazar I got to listen to the Azan!

May Allah (swt) sanctify his pure soul, and illuminate his blessed grave and return to us of his blessings and overflowing knowledge! Insha'Allah!

😊 🐜🐜🐜 This is how the Way of The Ant was conceived, for a while I had been studying how the US Marines and Royal Marines of the UK train and March, then I saw a video of Arman Marching to The Marching Ants Song on TV! May Bawa's Blessed Soul Always be With Us! Asalamu Aleykom Ya Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (Q) 🐜🐜🐜 😊

The Way of The Ant is Based on and for People of All Faiths!

The Holy Bible Tells Us:

"Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.

A troublemaker and a villain, who goes about with a corrupt mouth, who winks maliciously with his eye, signals with his feet, and motions with his fingers, who plots evil with deceit in his heart— he always stirs up conflict. Therefore disaster will overtake him in an instant; he will suddenly be destroyed—without remedy.

There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community." -The Holy Bible, New International Version (6:6-19)

What is the connection between the mighty man and a tiny ant?

Humans the crown of all creations with their great wisdom compared to ants, a tiny insect too tiny to be seen which is nothing compared to man is truly abysmal. Solomon the Great, to whom, “God gave great wisdom and understanding, and knowledge as vast as the sand on the shore” tells us to go to the ant and learn lessons from it. Look at the Ants, how they march in unison with perfect discipline! Army ants when swarming can be the most ferocious soldiers, a swarm of army ants can kill 100,000 insects, spiders and even large prey, such as scorpions, are no problem to army units, sometimes they even hunt small mammals. Some army ant colonies contain as many as 20 million ants, all serving a single queen. Ants are very loyal to their own colony, but they can be quite nasty toward outsiders. Competition among colonies for food and other resources often leads to aggression. Thus, the worst enemy of ants is other ants, not humans.

They are so well organized, Nothing is left undone in the Ant colony, Ants have an unbelievable spirit of unselfish unity. If they find out something eatable immediately they pass on the message to others. They have a spirit of sharing, ants share everything they get. They never eat anything alone. They show great interest in sharing. Ants have an amazing sense of discipline, the sense of discipline among the ants is really amazing. Without any mistake they march one after another in a line. How pleasant is their marching sight! Without any dispute or accident they move about in order. Think of man’s spirit of division. He is more interested in division than in unity.

The active nature of the ants attracted Solomon very much. That made him rebuke the lazy man saying, “You idler, go to the ant, watch her ways and be wise. She has no master, no steward or overseer. She secures food in summer and stores up provisions during harvest time.” He reminds man to be forewarned and active. Ants are tireless, Ants always keep themselves busy all day long. However, they are busy doing something, unlike many individuals who are busy doing nothing. To be tireless implies never slacking or stopping. That is a very classical attribute of the Ant. Also Ants are patient, they patiently continue doing what they do till the goals and objectives are reached.

Ants are persistent, Whenever an obstacle is placed in the way of Ants, they always find a way round such obstacles. Napoleon said, "Victory belongs to be persistent" We must never give up so easily in the face of obstacles. There are many obstacles in life that have to be overcome. As long as you keep trying you will get past whatever is blocking your path. Ants have incredible speed, Ants may be smallish in nature, but never underrate their speed. This is a big lesson for those who are sluggish in doing things or taking decisions.

Ants are great planners, When it is winter, they store up enough food in their colony. During winter, when the cold is becoming unbearable, they never lack anything. Ants are better planners than some individuals. It was not raining, when Noah built the Ark. He had to plan ahead, because He knew the flood would surely come. Ants are strong and hardworking, Ants are noted for carrying objects that are bigger than them. This is only made possible through sheer hard work and determination. Ants are not only strong, but also hard working. They are not afraid or are scared of heavy tasks, but rather take pleasure in lifting these objects to their colony. If we don’t look at how big a task is, we would easily accomplish task that seemed insurmountable.

Ants have teamwork, Everything an ant does is for the benefit of the colony and they will work together until they are done. Almost on auto pilot each ant knows their duties and they do everything they can to get those duties completed. Some are tunneling, some are moving material and others are looking for food. If any of the ants is not working with the team it will be noticed. Ants are clean, they take care of the colonies living quarters and nest, they build perfect clean tunnels, if the tunnels are clogged and dirty they cant move about. Ants are builders, they build the colonies nests, colonies live inside nests that can be built in trees, underground, or even inside special ant plants.

Ants are social insects, which means they live in groups, or colonies. Ant colonies are highly organized, usually ruled by a single queen, and each ant has specific jobs to do. Ants make the most of every opportunity. The problem is that many people live their lives without taking advantage of their opportunities. Watching ants at work and play is amazing! The lessons from these tiny ants are great challenges for modern humanity. The lessons they teach lead us to enlightenment and unity. They should enable us to handle the resources of nature very seriously. Follow them and you will succeed!!!

Subhan Allah! - All Praise to Allah (swt)!

Another perfect attribute of Allah (swt) is the "Conqueror/غالب", by conquering our ego (Ants have no egos) and getting more disciplined in our lives and becoming like Ants we can progress and better serve Allah (swt) & Allah (swt)'s creations, InshaAllah! یا غالب - Ya Ghalib! As mentioned above Allah (swt) is the most perfect arranger and disciplinarian, hopefully by getting more disciplined in our daily lives we can get closer to Allah (swt), InshaAllah!

Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), Al-Hayyul-Qayyum (the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists). Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him except with His Permission? He knows what happens to them (His creatures) in this world, and what will happen to them in the Hereafter. And they will never compass anything of His Knowledge except that which He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

MY DOJO - The formal gathering place for students of martial arts such as judo or karate. Dojo literally means “place of the way” in Japanese. Shoes must not be worn inside a dojo, and in some martial arts, it is customary to ritually clean the dojo before and after training sessions.

MY FUTURE HOME - This cave is my future home! I am very excited and cannot wait to go and move into it. The cave is located in my sisters house on her property in the United States near a Sufi shrine and very sacred place! I feel this cave will bring about all kinds of blessings for me till I get established in the United States, I will be performing music, meditating and practicing Martial Arts as well as hunt and fish in a nearby lake as well as ride the horse on the property during the day. My goal is to be able to survive in nature and be one with it!

Also we must give thanks to Allah (swt) for all the diverse and miraculous food that has been provided and made for us to enjoy! Alhamduli'Allah!

Meditation (Seclusion)

Seclusion [khalwat] is better than isolation [cuzlat] العزلة . It is a kind of isolation, that can only be prescribed by the shaikh. Its shortest time limit is 40 days, as mentioned in the Holy Qur’an about Sayiddina Musa (s), “And remember We appointed forty nights for Moses” (Surah al-Baqarah, 51). Muslim narrated that the Prophet (s) made seclusion in the cave of ara for one complete month. Its aim is to clean the heart of connection to this world of material pleasures, and to bring it to a state of remembrance of Allah, Almighty and Exalted. In it countless visions occur, and it elevates the murid to a state of knowing the self, and from there to a state of knowing Allah.

Seclusion requires the seeker to disconnect himself from people and to disengage himself from all material interactions for a set period of time. His heart must be engaged only in God’s Remembrance, and his mind relaxed from daily concerns. All this must take place under the guidance of a gnostic shaikh, to teach us if we forget, and to remind us if we are heedless, and to throw out of the heart all gossip and whispers of the ego.

The shaikh orders the murid to seclude himself in a room where he will be served every day only with what is necessary for survival. Then he will teach his tongue the way of reciting Dhikr, until he will be engaged with that recitation. The shaikh will support his murid in opening the Vision of the Divine Presence in the heart (surat al-mushahada fil-qalb). Whatever happens to the murid during the seclusion, he must tell his shaikh, and he must conceal it from anyone other than the shaikh.

Seclusion is not an innovation but is an order of Allah, Almighty and Exalted, in his Holy Book and in the example of the Prophet (s). The Prophet (s) used to make seclusion in the cave of Hira in the mountains of Makkah, remembering Allah, Almighty and Exalted. It is indicated in the Qur’an, in Surat al-Muzzamil, (73, 8): “So remember the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with full devotion.” Allama Abu Sacad in his commentary on the explanation of the Qur’an by Fakhr ad-Din ar-Razi, volume 8, p. 338, says, “The meaning of this verse is to keep seclusion”

Allama Abu Sacad in his commentary on the explanation of the Qur’an by Fakhr ad-Din ar-Razi, volume 8, p. 338, says, “The meaning of this verse is to keep secluding yourself from anyone other than Allah, Almighty and Exalted, remembering Him day and night, by tasbih, tahmid and tahlil, and to disconnect yourself, by all the power you have, and approach Him through the meditative stations such that you will not see anyone except Him, and be away from connections to other than Him through that meditation.” Meditation here rests on seclusion. The proof for this in the Qur’an can be found in the story of Maryam (s), the mother of Jesus (s): “So her Lord accepted her with a gracious acceptance, and caused her to grow an excellent growth, and made Zakariyya (s) her guardian. Whenever Zakariya visited her in her seclusion he found with her provision. He said, ‘O Maryam, whence hast thou this?’ She replied, ‘It is from Allah. Surely, Allah gives to whomsoever He pleases without measure.’” (Ali Imran, 37)

Allah said in the Qur’an, in Surat al-Kahf (ayat 16), mentioning the story of the companions of the cave, they were ordered, “Betake yourself to the Cave: your Lord will shower His mercies on you and dispose of your affair towards comfort and ease.” Similary, seclusion has a proof in the sunnah. Bukhari reports that Ayesha said, “The Prophet loved to make seclusion. And he was secluding himself in the Cave of Hira.” Imam Nawawi, explained the hadith of Ayesha, “To be alone with the one you love is the real seclusion. It is the way of the pious and it is the way of knowers.”

He said, in his explanation of Sahih Muslim, “The Prophet (s) said, ‘Seclusion was made to be loved by him,’ because with it the heart will be empty of all this materialistic life, and it will be in peace. It helps to deepen the meditation on Allah’s Divine Presence, and with it his attachments to dunya will decrease, and with it his reverence will increase.” Imam Zuhri said, “I wonder at people, that they have left seclusion. The Prophet (s) was doing some things and then leaving them, yet he never left seclusion until he died.” Abi Jamra said in explanation of this hadith, “The Prophet, when he secluded himself and left people behind and disconnectd himself from this world, received revelation from Jibril in the Cave of Hira. Anyone who will imitate the Prophet in doing seclusion, under the order of his shaikh, will be lifted to the state of sainthood. “The proof of seclusion is that the Prophet (s), through his seclusion in the Cave of Hira, was lifted up to the state in which he received revelation. During his seclusions the first fruit was true dreams, and from that state he was elevated to the state in which he received revelation, to the state where he could receive revelation from the angel Jibril. Then he was lifted up more and more until he reached, during the Night of Ascension, the Divine Presence, to the station of two bows’ length or nearer.” “All these stations were the fruit of his seclusion in the Cave of Hira. We see from this, that if we follow the footsteps of the Prophet (s), we will be lifted from one state to another, until we reach the high states of sainthood, and we will find ourselves in the Divine Presence.”

Shaikh ‘Abul Qadir said, “From the cave of Hira, where the Prophet (s) used to make seclusion, the light emanated, the dawn shone forth, and sunrise came. The first sparks of the luminescence of Islamic Sufism were struck. Never did the Prophet (s) leave his seclusion, even when he left the cave of Hira. All his life he was making seclusion, in the last ten days of Ramadan every year.” Imam Qastallani, in explaining this hadith, in his book “Rashad us-Sari” vol. 1, p. 62, “Seclusion will put the heart in peace and open in it fountains of wisdom, because it will disconnect the murid from the materialistic life and enable him to remember Allah, Almighty and Exalted. In his seclusion he must also isolate himself and seclude himself from himself, to see only Allah, Almighty and Exalted. At that time only will he receive Unseen Knowledge, and his heart will be a foundation for it.” Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani said, in explaining the hadith of ‘Ayesha, “The seclusion is emptying the heart of everything except Allah.” [Fath al-Bari, v.1, p. 18]

Abul Hasan ash-Shadili said, “There are ten benefits from seclusion:

Safety from all misconduct of the tongue, because there is no one to talk to in seclusion
Safety from all misconduct of the eyes, because there is no one to see from human beings
Safety of the heart from all kinds of show, and other like illnesses
It will lift you to the state of asceticism
It will save you from accompanying evil people
It will give you free time to do dhikr
It will give you the sweet taste of worship, and prayers and supplication to the Divine Presence
It will give satisfaction and peace to the heart
It will keep your ego from falling into bad manners
It will give you the time to meditate and make account of yourself, and to make your goal the Divine Presence.

That is what the Prophet mentioned in his hadith, narrated by Bukhari, in the book of Riqaq. Abu Huraira reported that the Prophet said (s), “There are seven who will be kept under Allah’s Shadow, on the Day when there is no shadow other than Allah’s Shadow… One of them is a man who makes dhikr in seclusion, and the tears are coming from his eyes.”

Explanation of Seclusion by Shaikh ‘Abdullah ad-Daghestani

Once a famous French orientalist came to grandshaikh Abdullah Daghestani in Damascus and said, “O my master, I am coming to you after studying the Psalms, the Torah the Bible and the Holy Qur’an. I have studied all kinds of philosophy, all the religions, and many other systems of knowledge. But still, I feel nothing in my heart. I feel no satisfaction. On the contrary, it is as if I were standing on the edge of a cliff and were about to fall. I have become so shaky that I am going from one center to another, seeking what is real. Where can I reach that reality and gain satisfaction in my heart? Where can I find my Lord?” “I have been everywhere. I have asked famous philosophers, orientalists, people whom I considered saints. I have read everything I could. Yet, when I have asked any scholar a question, I felt as if they were giving me an answer I already knew. They were not giving me anything new. I am confused.” “I heard your name and I have finally come to you. After you I am not going anywhere. Will you give me an answer to my question? Whatever you say I will follow and believe. But if you do not give me an answer, I shall remain as I am, confused and uncertain for the rest of my life.”

Grandshaikh said, “My son, if you take the seed of an apple or any fruit and leave it there dry, for hundreds of years, it will remain dry. But if you take that seed and put it in a field and plant it, then come back after one month, you will find that a green sprout has come out. If you dig and try to find that seed you will not find it anymore, it has vanished, replaced by something new. If you continue to water that plant it will become a tree and that tree will give fruit. But where is the original seed? It has disappeared. There is no original seed anymore. The seed has become a large tree now, with fruit coming forth, giving people fruit to eat.” “Similarly, if you take an egg and put it under a chicken for 21 days, after exactly twenty-one days that egg disappears and a new chick comes. Something new comes into being. If you look under the chicken you will no longer find the egg there. The egg has vanished. It was the twenty-one days under that chicken that turned it into a new generation.”

“Something similar happens with human beings when they are in their mother’s womb for about nine months and ten days. Inside that womb they are without any connection to anything outside, alone. Yet after those nine months and ten days of loneliness there will come forth a new generation, a new creation. My son, in everyone of these three examples there was something that went into seclusion. The seed cut itself off from the material world above the ground and went into seclusion for several weeks, then a new plant emerged. The egg went into seclusion under its mother, with no connection to the material life outside its shell and came out a new generation. The sperm went into seclusion in the egg within the mother’s womb for nine months, without connection to the external world of their materialistic life, but after the seclusion it emerged a new generation.” “My son, if you do not enter into seclusion, then never say to yourself, as the seed says to itself, ‘I want to cut myself off from the materialistic life of this world and vanish from it for the love of God and for the benefit of other human beings.’ For the seed begets fruit. If you do not experience a retreat like this, if you don’t cut yourself from the materialistic life, forsake your ego and complete sacrifice and vanish into nothingness to exist only in God, never will you find your ultimate reality, your true self. Never will you be like that tree that gives fruit for people to eat. If you will not be like that egg and sever yourself from materialism, retreating into the shell of seclusion and existing only in the presence of your Lord, meditating, concentrating on Him, worshipping Him in your heart, keeping His Presence always in your heart, never will you find that satisfaction and happiness you seek.”

“Why must you imitate that sperm that enters into seclusion for nine months? The mother’s womb consists of three layers. This was mentioned 1400 years ago in the Holy Qur’an in Surat az-Zumar, 6;, at a time when no microscopes existed. The Prophet (s) also said, ‘The womb of a mother is composed of darknesses, i.e. of layers.’ You must enter into this loneliness, severing your bond to everything external, cutting yourself off from the material things of this world, to be alone with your Lord, and thus make connection to your ultimate reality, by fitting that image you wear here to its original in the Divine Presence.” “Never will you know satisfaction, no matter how many books you read, for when you read, you only hear the books. The knowledge they contain is only hearsay knowledge, and not real. Yet in seclusion, you not only hear but you feel. You will not only see, but you will smell. It is then that the eyes of the heart open. My son if you don’t enter into seclusion, your heart will never feel the contentment you have been so long seeking.” Immediately the scholar said, “You have given me an answer to my question and a solution to my problem that I have never yet received from anyone. My heart is open. Show me the way.” Grandshaikh gave him permission to enter into seclusion in a designated place, cutting himself off from everything. He entered that place an ordinary man, but after one year he left it a saint.”

Seek knowledge even as far as China! -Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

30 years ago I was a kid visiting Tokyo and I saw one of these monks upclose, it was absolutely amazing seeing them in person, a lot of people didnt pay any attention to them, some gave them money, I was in awe and my parents kept telling me to go but it had a profound effect on me... 30 years later we meet again, this time virtually...

In order to propely perform martial arts and sports, one must also understand the inner workings of the body. How the internal organs work, how amazing they are and how they function and what one needs to do in order to be able to be become fully fit and healthy. In essence as a martial artist and expert in the field of death we should be concerned with how to live, heal, kill and die.

Based on Bawa Muhaiyaddeen's (Q) teachings: There are a thousand different kinds of cells in the body, moving around in the blood, in the body fluids, and in the tissues. Of these, seven kinds have been identified by science.

Out of those discovered so far, there are two main types: the red cells, which foster the growth of blood, and the white cells, which eat up the blood. This is as far as scientific research has gone.

But there are also some cells that transform water into blood and others which turn blood into milk. Still other cells transform air into a kind of gas, imbued with energy. Certain cells can create acid and fire from other cells. There are even some that can drink up the blood and others that can suck the energy of the body and blood and swallow it. Some cells transform the blood into a watery state and send more water into the nerves. Some cells turn that same water into a form that makes the blood and the water sweet and creates sugar in the body. Still other cells use that sugar to create a kind of energy that can ‘melt’ the body, so that no matter how much food is eaten, this energy consumes it first, thus preventing the food energy from reaching the muscles and skin, just as a tree cannot take in fertilizer if the earth absorbs it first.

Some cells take the water we drink, increase the amount, and send it out as urine. Some cells soak up the water, pull out its energy so it cannot be absorbed by the body, and send it out as semen. (Which encompases billions of other cells and the Human DNA to recreate life)

Some cells melt the energy of the bone marrow and send it out through the urine, which gradually depletes the body’s energy, causing it to waste away. There are other cells of a similar nature that can drain the energy from the body and bring about coughs, consumption (tuberculosis), asthma, etc. As a result, the appetite might be reduced and the strength of the body depleted. It is due to the changes in these different cells that various diseases are produced. Thus there are many different kinds of cells, some dwelling in the warmth of the body, some in the coolness, some in the fire, and some in the water.

For the most part, only the white and red cells are easily identified. The proportion of red cells to white does not remain steady. Sometimes white cells will eat up red cells, reducing their number, while the white cells proliferate. Rarely are the amounts balanced. But whenever both red and white cells are reduced in number, it means that other kinds of cells are taking over cells that cause the body to ‘melt’. Worry can cause this. Grief, worry, or sorrow, most of all worry, can eat up a person’s body. It can virtually melt the body away. We need to do more research on this in order to discover the right treatment.

A healthy mind Can be found in a healthy body

In fact blood cells themselves are like Armies as well, some defend, others attack and these cells need to be in tip top shape and performing correctly or else the whole body falls apart.

The same applies to the brain, imagine what wonders would happen if all of the cells of our body and mind get aligned with the universe, that every single cell in our body would be activated to be in complete synchronization with the will of Allah (swt) and be programmed to receive the blessings in store for us. In fact we should be praying like this when we pray and pray with every cell in our body.

When our minds, bodies and spirit are in complete unison and synchronization with the will of Allah (swt) this is called the state of Annihilation in the Beloved or (فنا فی الله), for once we get fully activated and put properly on the path of Allah (swt) in reality what is happening is that everything that stands in opposition to the will of Allah (swt) gets Annihilated! Alhamdulillah! Insha'Allah our minds, body & spirit are all in obedience to Allah (swt), Ameen Ya Rabul Alameen!

Grandshaykh Abd-Allah Daghestani (Q) said this Ayah has the power to put the servant in a state of continuous obedience:
Obey Allah, obey the Prophet, and obey those in authority among you. (Surat an-Nisa, 4:59)

Recite it when walking, driving, sitting, even silently, because Allah will create angels who read it on your behalf and you will receive its reward in Dunya and on the Day of Judgment.

Healing with the Quran Secrets

In 1960, the Swiss scientist Hans Jenny found that the sound affects the various materials and reform their particulars, and that each cell of the body has its own sound and gets affected by the sounds and rearranges the material inside it. In 1974, the researchers Fabien Maman and Sternheimer made an astonishing discovery; they found that each part of the body has its own vibration system, subject to physics laws. A few years later, Fabien and Grimal, another researcher, discovered that sound affects cells especially cancer cells, and that certain sounds had stronger effect; the strange thing the two researchers found was that the sound that had the strongest effect on body cells is the sound of the human himself!!

"The human sound has a special spiritual ring making it the most powerful healing device. Fabien found that some sounds easily explode the cancerous cell, and at the same time activate the healthy cell. The sound affects human blood cells which transfer the frequencies of this sound to the whole body through the blood circulation".

The human body is 70% water, It is a known fact that water molecules shape changes when exposed to sound; thus, sound greatly affects the water we drink. If you recite the Holy Quran on water, its characteristics would change and it would carry the Holy Quran's effect to every cell in the body causing them to heal! In the picture above, we see a frozen water molecule; the electromagnetic field around this molecule changes continuously because of the sound effect.

A cancerous cell exploded by using sound frequencies captured with Kirlian camera! (Above)

The sound of the Holy Quran changes the information cells carry and makes them more powerful and capable of fighting viruses and the defects resulting from malignant diseases. Each verse of the Koran has an amazing healing power for a specific disease, that's why listening to Quran is the best way to activate your bodies cells and has a great impact on treating the most dangerous cancer cells and incurable diseases!

The Above Recitation of Quran (Ayatul Kursi) by Abdul Basit or Surahs of Hamd, Falaq, Khalaq should be used for this purpose and the process should be repeated at least once a week (if not daily) to fully charge the cells. Since water also has awareness and changes form based on thoughts and energy, you should could also direct & guide the blessed water to help cure a certain ailment by specifying intention ("Niyah") saying for example; Auwdibillah Minal Sheytan Rajim Bismillah Rahman Raheem I am drinking this blessed water to help rejuvenate my body and cure such and such disease Ameen Ya Rabal Alameen!

Ideally we would and could and should use Rain water as the effects of that are clearly mentioned literally in the Holy Quran, you can collect this water and drink it the same way, this water is ideal because it comes from above.

Not a single drop of water is without purpose, if it rains too little we get droughts and famine, if it rains too much we get floods and destruction, everything is meassured and is aware of its purpose.

Water can make barren land full of life and gives life to everything, some water is sweet and others salty, although water is placed in containers it is also a container itself for all kinds of creatures big and small, whales, sharks, fish & even microscopic organisms and viruses all live in water.

We can also get from point A to point B in water like submarines & swimming or above water like boats & ships, water has energy and without water there is no life. We are 70% water! We are born from water! Water is amazing as it also cleanses our bodies both inside and outside!

There is earthly water that springs forth from between rocks and earth and heavenly water that comes from the sky in the form of rain, drinking that water is the best!

“And We sent down from the sky of blessing water. We then grow it with the trees and the seeds of the plants that are plotted.” (Qur'an, Qaaf 50:9).

Also Allah says: “It is Allah who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds and spread them in the sky however He wills, and He makes them fragments so you see the rain emerge from within them. And when He causes it to fall upon whom He wills of His servants, immediately they rejoice.” (Qur’an, 30:48)

Everything is completely inline with the life force energy of the Universe and this is what we want to be in line with. Insha'Allah!

The same technique can be applied to water by using various Vedic & Buddhist chants such as OM, Christian Hymns, etc. By drinking blessed holy water we are in essence activating the very cells in our body. We do this to be in synchronization with the universe and the will of the creator. Once our cells are synchronized and submit to the will of Allah (swt) we must then accept to submit our soul to the will of Allah (swt) which is completely different and seperate from our body (ظاهر و باطن), this is conscience choice one must make in order to receive those blessings.

Music also has this kind of quality and effect as well. Many great books and manuscripts have been written by the likes of Abu Ali Sina (Avicenna) one of the greatest thinkers and medical scholars in history and one of the Islamic world's leading writers in the field of medicine on the effects and healing qualities of music.

Avicenna goes way beyond his predecessors; Aristotle and al-Fārābī in positioning music within the systems of communication and highlights music's special ability to create a flux of joy and sadness, tension and relaxation, based on the ephemeral character of sound that serves as a connecting thread through all levels of its communicative roles. Other scholars and their works must and can also be studied in this regard and hopefully we will add to this knowledge! Insha'Allah!

Secrets of Food and Minerals

Special attention should be made to the diet, food intake should be based on moderation principles of Islam, also special attention should be made on the qualities and attributes of each of the ingrediants of your food. For example the qualities of beans, greens, fruits and the likes should be thought of and food intake should be based on those attributes. For example the process that the food & minerals have undertaken to reach you and enter your body should be realized and meditated on, all minerals find their way into the human body and provide what is needed by the grace of the creator Allah (swt), that is their purpose! Subhan'Allah!

The knowledge of foods is important to understand, only then will you be able to benefit from their energy, their minerals and their wisdom. Every plant comes with wisdom in it. Wisdom to cure, wisdom to heal, wisdom to provide energy for you to do things in this world as well as wisdom to make you think! If you meditate on the types of food your eating and what the attributes that those foods carry for you and what it will do for your body can you then benefit from it and focus on your bodies needs and then eat appropriately.

Secrets of Breathing & Breathing Techniques
Unlocking the Divine Breath - From the teachings of the Naqshbandi Shuyukh

Lungs are The Tree of Life, Then, we must become conscious of the breath because every breath is a pocket of life. So are you breathing in remembrance of the Divine? And Mawlana Shaykh is teaching that the Naqshbandi way is built on the breath. That breath is our gift of life, and when put in that context you realize that everything else in life is irrelevant if you can’t take a breath: your money, your spouse, your children, your house, your cars, all of it means nothing if you have no breath.

So then go and look at children who are suffering with asthma and every breath they take it is as if they’re dying, and that fear of suffocating is an absolutely horrible feeling. It means the breath is the single most important mercy from God. That is why we call it the Nafas al Rahma “breath of the Most Merciful.” Why?

Because we are asking so many things in this room; each person upset with the Divine because they didn’t get what they want, but we have to want what we have before we ask for other things. And the biggest and the greatest gift we have is the gift of life. If God at some time becomes upset with us, in one instant He can make that breath become very difficult to get, and instead of arguing and complaining about all the things we want we find ourselves just trying to take a single breath without difficulty. God forbid that happen to anyone! May He forgive us and keep such difficulties away from us!

So that is the breath of the Most Merciful. “O! My Lord! I am praising You and thanking You for this breath!” It means that we begin to breathe consciously with remembrance. So the Shaykhs are teaching that if we are thankful for that mercy, every other mercy opens because we appreciated the gift of life. Then that answers many questions for us.

We don’t put all these things into the body that are going to contaminate that breath, that are going to poison that breath, that are going to put difficulty onto that breath.

We are trying to purify that breath with remembrance, closing our eyes in meditation and breathing in with the zikr of “Huuuuu” from the Divine Essence, and breathing out with “Huuuu.” So it means that the Prophets are showing us the importance of the ears, the eyes, and then the most important - the breath. When the ears are submitting, the eyes are submitting and the breath is submitting, then we begin to open the power of the tongue, which is what makes a Messenger to be a Messenger for the Divine. It means the opening of the “tongue of truth”. That tongue of truth is flowing from Sayedena Muhammad (s) to the Saints because the Saints speak the truth. At that time, when the holy face is in submission, then the Divine can work through that servant.

It is very important to honor our ancestors, by enabling, practicing and teaching martial arts we honor our ancestors that have practiced these arts before us! Legends and Wisdom will only survive if they are passed down to the next generation!

We must first realize "The Weapon" is an extension of the Human Body, it is used because you have a disability, otherwise you would not need a weapon.

Anything can be used as a weapon and "No Weapon" is better than the "Human Body", for Martial Arts we use our bodies, so we must understand our bodies, we must know it's strength and weaknesses. We must talk to our body and body parts. If you talk to Ants and tell them to go away they will go, so if you talk to your body it will listen also, sometimes they mutiny, but you will need to make sure they listen and are obedient.

The Holy Quran says: "That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn." -Sūrat Yā Sīn (36:65)

Also we must understand Energy, Martial Arts works with energy, it consumes energy, it uses energy and it produces energy. There is positive energy and negative energy. In reality there are thousands of kinds of energy, many of which we have no idea and do not know. We must understand this, we must also try to meditate and understand the energy effecting us and what energy is. Things can be done gently or they can be done forcefully, something no matter how hard you try cannot be done forcefully, we must understand the nature of things and apply the right methods to achieve our goals, which must always be noble lest our actions and body parts testify against us and work against us.

Weapons are what is placed between people & seperates them when they fight. In reality Martial Arts is like a Dance, not a fight! One practices Martial Arts to become an Artist like a Dancer, Not a Fighter! Therfore Love is the most fundamental thing we must understand, it is important to be able to love everything around us! It is important you love what you do and also become the best at what your doing, otherwise you are wasting your time. When the Weapon is made it becomes an extension of who we are and what defines us thats why we must use it wisely.

It is recommended to find a lover if one doesnt have one and if one has one to treat them like a Queen or King. You must serve them liked their personal Armed Soldiers, Princes and Kings, we must be loyal, faithful, pay attention to them, be attentive to their needs and desires and serve them with love, we must learn to serve with love by first serving those closest to us, which would be our parents, our wife, our children, family and friends. Ants serve their communities, we must become like Ants and Serve Our Own Community First and then Society as a Whole! Everything in the Universe is paired and we become stronger and complete as a pair!

In relation to weilding swords & swords fighting, one must learn the Sword inside & out, learn what a Sword is, how it was made and how it was forged, how it becomes part of us, what to do with it, how to sharpen it, how to wield it, how to hold it, how to see it, how to slash the air with it, how to gaze upon your opponents soul (which actually might be ourselves), learn how swords clash and how to strike down the opponents sword and finally learn how to cut.

When Swords are forged, Swords are beaten in order to be made, also when they are heated in fire, they literally become like fire, but Swords dont actually turn into fire or get burned but it can still burn anything just like fire. The element of fire can both burn you or help you cook food, therfore we must understand Swords, Swords should never be used for fighting!

In essence if one is to become the best martial artist, one must first learn to love to get hit instead of hitting others, therefore if one wishes to become the best swordsman, naturally one must learn to love to get cut, like a potato that gets chopped and cut into many bits. In other words Like the Sword that gets beaten to be made, instead of punching a Punching Bag, you must become the Punching Bag! Then after suffering all the blows would we be able to with just a simple blow (breath) drop and defeat your opponent. In fact it is said that to properly wield a Sword we must strike like lightning and move like the wind. With every breath we must have movement and not be still inside or outside. We must learn to breath properly while using a sword and breath in truth and exhale falsehood, in and out, inside and outside.

To better explain this, in the Shia Islamic context, during the Battle of Karbala, The Euphrates river was occupied by Yazid I's army to prevent the camp of Hazrat Husayn (a) from getting water. Hz. Abbas (a) volunteered to go get water for the thirsty children and in the process had both his hands, feet and head cut off. We must learn to be like that & be prepared to defend those in dire need and even sacrifice ourselves during the process for Allah (swt) and Allah (swt)'s creations. We must learn to love to get cut like the potato in order to feed other people, in other words just be kind! That is how you become a swordsman!

Sufis are the power behind Islam, for centuries Sufis have combined their inward quest with the defense and expansion of Islam worldwide. At once mystics and elite soldiers, dervishes and preachers, charismatic wonder-workers and power-brokers, ascetic Sufis have always been in the vanguard of Islam. While pushing forward the physical borders of Islam, they have been essential to the spiritual and cultural fullness of the faith.

Sufi orders are more than confraternities of pious devotees. Early in history, Sufis developed a powerful military streak, making them the Knights of Islam, as well as the monks and mystics. After all, the word “knight” means servant; for that matter, so does the word “samurai.”.

Like the Knights Templar or the Japanese Samurai or the Shaolin Monks, the Sufi brotherhoods trained their followers to amazing feats of devotion and overcoming pain. In fact fanatical dervish warriors were the special forces of every Islamic army from the 13th century through the end of the 19th century.

Above all, the Sufis sought the divine reality or ultimate truth that stands above all the illusions and deceptions of the material world. In order to achieve ecstatic union with God, they incorporated techniques of sound and movement, chanting and music, swaying, sport and dance. Sufis have no fear of music, poetry, and other artistic forms -- these are central to their sense of the faith's beauty -- and the brotherhoods cherish intellectual exploration and are quite open to modern knowledge and science. Below are some of their ethics and principles.

The term Furūsiyya, much like its parallel chivalry in the West, also appears to have developed a wider meaning of "martial ethos". Arabic furusiyya and European chivalry has both influenced each other as a means of a warrior code for the knights of both cultures. Furūsiyya as a science is especially concerned with the martial arts and equestrianism of the Golden Age of Islam and the Mamluk period (roughly 10th to 15th centuries), reaching its peak in Mamluk Egypt during the 14th century.

Furūsiyya was subdivided into two categories; "Upper Furusiyya” ﴾الفروسية العلوية﴿ as the activities which were involved on horseback, and “Lower Furusiyya” ﴾الفروسية السفلية﴿ as the activities that took place on foot. The activities of Furusiyyah were divided into two classes: Noble (Al Furusiyyah al Nabilah) ﴾الفروسية النبيلة﴿, used by the Abbasid court and higher elements of civil society. Military (Al Furusiyyah Al Harbiyyah) ﴾الفروسية الحربية﴿, generally used by and focused on the mounted warriors and soldiers, their training and ethic.

Ibn Akhi Hazm mentions the important attributes for effectively practicing Furusiyyah, this means a wise implementation of; Fear of Allah ﷻ, Good judgement, Daring and Caution, Modesty, Patience, Endurance, etc. This mindset is present among various Pre-islamic Arab Knights.

The three basic categories of furūsiyya are horsemanship (including veterinary aspects of proper care for the horse, the proper riding techniques), archery, and charging with the lance. Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya adds swordsmanship as a fourth discipline in his treatise Al-Furūsiyya (1350). Ibn Akhi Hizam also cited that there are three fundamentals to the furūsiyya: horse mastery, proficiency in handling all types of weapons, and bravery.

Illustration of a horse's "good points", 13th century manuscript of the Kitāb Al-Bayṭara by Aḥmad ibn ʿAtīq al-Azdī based on Furūsiyya (فروسية‎; also transliterated as Furūsīyah) is the historical Arabic term for equestrian martial exercise. Furūsiyya as a science is especially concerned with the martial arts and equestrianism of the Golden Age of Islam and the Mamluk period (roughly 10th to 15th centuries), reaching its peak in Mamluk Egypt during the 14th century.

The ethical dimension was also integrated in military furusiyya, which originated within the Abbasids' new army and which became the first professional multiethnic caliphal army in Islam.

The Abbasid Iraqi army commander Muhammad Ibn Ya'qub Ibn Ghalib Ibn Ali al-Khuttali, known as Ibn Akhi Hizam, was the central figure in Muslim furusiyya ("horsemanship" or "chivalry") and wrote the oldest surviving Arabo-Islamic manual on military training and the care of horses.

His work marked the emergence of Muslim furusiyya and determined the content of subsequent furusiyya literature. Indeed the furusiyya author and halaqa commander Muhammad Ibn Mangli (q.v.) warned his fellow troopers and mamluks not to consult any other work. -Ibn Akhī Hāzm, Kitāb al-Furūsiyya wa 'l-Bayṭara, Daniel Coetzee, Philosophers of War (2013), p. 62

Persian faras-nāma which can be dated with confidence are extant only from about the mid-14th century, but the tradition survives longer in Persia, throughout the Safavid era. One treatise by ʿAbd-Allāh Ṣafī, known as the Bahmanī faras-nāma (written in 1407/8) is said to preserve a chapter from an otherwise lost 12th-century (Ghaznavid-era) text. There is a candidate for another treatise of this age, extant in a single manuscript: the treatise attributed to one Moḥammad b. Moḥammad b. Zangī, also known as Qayyem Nehāvandī, has been tentatively dated as originating in the 12th century.

Some of the Persian treatises are translations from the Arabic. One short work, attributed to Aristotle, is a Persian translation from the Arabic. There are supposedly also treatises translated into Persian from Hindustani or Sanskrit. These include the Faras-nāma-ye hāšemī by Zayn-al-ʿĀbedīn Ḥosaynī Hašemī (written 1520), and the Toḥfat al-ṣadr by Ṣadr-al-Dīn Moḥammad Khan b. Zebardast Khan (written 1722/3). Texts thought to have been originally written in Persian include the Asb-nāma by Moḥammad b. Moḥammad Wāseʿī (written 1365/6; Tehran, Ketāb-ḵāna-ye Malek MS no. 5754). A partial listing of known Persian faras-nāma literature was published by Gordfarāmarzī (1987).

"And you did not kill them, but it was Allah who killed them. And you threw not, [O Muhammad], when you threw, but it was Allah who threw that He might test the believers with a good test. Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing."
-Holy Quran Surah Al-Anfal (8:17)

Based on certain Islamic Mystical beliefs there actually was no Army of Islam and that all so-called historical armed conflicts are but of an illusion of this world, similar to a matrix factor that has somehow evolved out of the imagination of our minds, in this image nothing is certain, only Allah (swt) and death are certain and in fact this very page you are reading indeed may actually not really exist.

The concept of Jihad is not one of armed men and standing fighting armies but rather one's soul fighting the demons within in order to understand the hell we have created for ourselves and are currently living & experiencing. This living hell is the results of our own unchivalrous behavior towards others, our actions and intentions which is also known as the Jihad-fi-Nafs or Struggle Against Our Own Self's Ego.

Coming to the realization and understanding that every time we hurt someone in any way possible, we are actually bringing hell down upon ourselves with consequences to be faced and suffered from in this world and hereafter is the whole purpose of Islam. Islam was sent as a gift to save mankind not hurt them.

Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors. -Holy Quran Surah Al-Ma'ida (5:32)

Islam is a religion of Peace and hurting mankind is strictly forbidden in Islam. Even the intention (or Niyat) of hurting someone can have long lasting effects or consequences on ones soul and is haraam. Coming to this realization is coming out of Jahiliyat rendered as ignorance or barbarism.

Therfore chivalry amongst Muslims is of extreme importance because the Peaceful Army of Islam is so Powerful, so Truthful, so Invincible and out of mankinds reach that no Army can touch it, fight it, see it or withstand it. Our Prophets and Imams are not a bunch of war-mongering murderers.

An example of the Army of Islam can be found in an event described in Sura 105 of the Holy Quran that refers to the miraculous birds that protected the Kaaba in Mecca from the Aksumite elephant army of Abraha sent forth by the king of Yemen to attack the city of Mecca. They did so by dropping stones on the heads of the army of elephants as they approached. This event occured in the year (571 AD) when the dear prophet of Islam Muhammad (pbuh) was born.

Blood is Victorious over the Sword as Light is Victorious over Darkness as Truthood is Victorious over Falsehood and Good is Victorious over Evil

Another illusionary example is one of the Islamic Worlds Most Powerful symbols; The Lion & Sun, despite it's violent looks, this symbol epitomizes & emphasizes Peace and Non-Violence becuase in actuality it is literally impossible, No Lion could Pick up a Sword, No Lion should ever need to Draw a Sword and No Real Lion Would ever Pick up a Sword to Fight!

The symbols origins can be traced back to the early days of Mithraism and is the best-known and most popular god of the early Iranian pantheon Mithra ("میترا") or Mehr ("مهر") which literally translates to "Kindness". Mehr was the god of the Rising Sun, a symbol of contracts, covenants, friendship, life and was responsible for the orderly change of seasons and cosmic order. It was an agent of enlightenment & was also the protector of the faithful and a guide towards Asha (Truth) and the most powerful warrior against the forces of darkness. It is also known as the Roman deity Sol Invictus which means Unconquered Invincible Sun.

This concept in Hinduism and Buddhism is called MAYA, a fundamental concept originally denoted as the magical power with which God can make human beings believe in what turns out to be an illusion.

In India, there’s the story of the ignorant man who sees a rope on a dark road and shouts, “Snake, snake!” When light is brought, he realizes it was just a rope. The rope didn’t change; it was always a rope and it was only the man’s mistake that created the illusion of a snake.

When you woke up this morning, you may have remembered last night’s dreams. They may have been wonderful or confusing, romantic or scary—it doesn’t matter. As soon as you awoke, you realized they were just dreams; they were something the mind created and weren’t real, so you let them go.

The great Enlightened Masters tell us that this life, which we call our waking reality, is also just another form of dreaming—something conjured up by the mind, a mistake of the intellect—and one day we’ll also awaken from this dream to the reality of our true Self.

Once we understand this truth & find out that everything we know & have known thus far in life is but an illusion we can then cast it away and simply build a new reality & better life for ourselves at any given moment using the creative power embedded in us by the creator.

«O God, Lord of all Dominions!»

This concept in Islam is called (Dunya). The corporal world is this life are these illusions. It is all that distracts man from the Remembrance of Allah and the Truth (Haqq) and is batil. In itself 'the world' is not bad, it is where we live and we should be very cognizant of it, however only in being attached to it is that one can be harmed by it. Man must have non-attachment to this Dunya and material life in order to able to get closer to God.

This doesnt mean abandoning material life and worldly desires but rather succeeding even more and striving to better oneself even more in this material world and achieve perfection in every possible imagineable way in order to be the best at what we do and be able to best serve God & Gods creations and mankind. For one who does not have much resources at their disposal in this world is not able to serve and help mankind, Gods creatures and God as much as one whom would have more resources at their disposal in this world.

History of mankind is full of Kings and Queens that had lives like fairytales, full of unparalleled & unimagineable power & wealth only to lose all that they once had. If this is what we go after we are going after illusions. Looking at the lives of these Kings and Queens (which truly epitomizes the illusionary nature of this world) one realizes that all we really have is what we have done and what we have accomplished when we had the chance and how we helped other people. This is what & how we will be remembered by, everything else is simply but an illusion that fades away through the filter of time... Then again this might be the path for many... Allah (swt) knows best!

"Then are men returned unto Allah, their protector, the (only) Reality: Is not His the Command & Judgement? and Surely His is the judgment. And He is the most Swift of Reckoners." -Holy Quran Surah Al-An'am (6:62)

There is a saying that the Pen is mightier than the Sword and the Truth (Al-Haqq) is also written with the Pen! Therfore we must gain knowledge about all that there is to know and all that there is that we need to do. Insha'Allah, Allah ﷻ will grant us sufficient knowledge for us to be successful, fulfill our duties, acheive our goals and best serve Allah ﷻ! Ameen Ya Rab al Alameen!

Haqq (Arabic: حقّ‎ ḥaqq) is the Arabic word for truth. In Islamic contexts, it is also interpreted as right and reality. Al-Haqq, "The Truth", is one of the names of God in the Qur'an. It is often used to refer to God as the Ultimate Reality. Death is also considered the Truth, Death is inevitable. No matter how much people try to escape death, it will reach everyone.

In Islam we have "Truthhood" or "Haqq" vs. "Falsehood" or "Batil", in Islam no one has the right or "Haqq" to hurt anyone else because that is falsehood and is rejected and "Batil", these sins distance us from Allah ﷻ this is the reality of Islam, in fact we must realize that every time we hurt someone, we are actually committing a sin and in reality we are only hurting ourselves and ending up in the Hell (Jahanam) we create for ourselves, both in this world and hereafter. In reality all we have to do is simply try our best to be good natured good hearted people.

The Holy Quran states: "Because of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allah [any] helpers." -Holy Quran (71:25)

Haqq al-Nās (حق الناس) or the Right of People is what one owes to other people, as opposed to the Right of God or Haqq Allah (حق الله), which is what one owes to God. The Right of People is not limited to financial rights; it includes matters of life and reputation as well. Violations of the Right of People include: theft, murder, qadhf (attribution of adultery to someone without evidence), backbiting, and slandering others.

The Right of People (حق الناس) can also be referred to as Human Rights.

“As for those who disbelieve I shall chastise them with a heavy chastisement in the world and the hereafter; and they will have no helpers. And as for those who believe and do good works, He will pay them their wages in full. Allah loveth not wrongdoers.”
-Holy Quran Surah Al-Imran (3:56-57)

May Allah help us, bless us, protect us and make us to be of the gooddoers and not be of the wrongdoers, Insha'Allah, Ameen Ya Rabil Alameen!

So Sure To Know You! No! No different! Only different in your mind! You must Un-Learn what you have Learned! Do! Or Do Not! There is No Try! For my Ally is the Force and a powerful ally it is, Life creates it, makes it grow, its energy surrounds us and binds us, Luminous beings are we not this crude matter, You must feel the Force around you, Here, between you... me... the tree... the rock... everywhere! Yes, even between this land and that ship! I don't believe it... That is why you fail!

- Master Yoda teaching Luke Skywalker to use the Force (Star Wars - Empire Strikes Back)

When Luke says he doesn’t believe in the power of the force, Yoda serves up this piece of wisdom. We have to believe in ourselves — and our abilities — in order to persevere and succeed. Without faith, we can only go so far. “The greatest teacher, failure is.” We learn from our mistakes, plain and simple and then “Pass on what you have learned.” The wisdom we gain in life is a gift to pass along — not to keep to ourselves.
Make like Yoda and share your insights with others.

Mystical Islamic Martial Arts concepts can also be found in Naqshbandi Haqqani Silat in parts of Southeast Asia such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei. Silat is said to be roughly seventy or eighty percent knowledge, and only twenty or thirty percent physical.

It's like a form of SUFI JEDI warrior principles and concepts that were not taught to anyone that was not initiated and were closely guarded secrets for fear of misuse & based on the hadith from the holy prophet on the importance of keeping secrets...

The word "Silat" refers to connection or "Wasilat" – (a means of approach) and other meanings such as "Fussilat" (A clear expounding (41:3)). Other terms also exist as part of a basic, but nevertheless, comprehensive meaning such as "Futuwwat" (Chivalry) thus resulting in "Futuhat" (Victories) which also means the "openings" and "revelations" that Insha'Allah result in Victory.

The diffrent levels of Silat training are indicated below; every student begins by learning the Adab (Manners) and Practice of their Rank, as well as the focus upon their Rabitat (Connection). The Beginner (Heart Level (Qalb)) is first introduced to a series of physical exercises intended to focus on Intention (Niyah) and Manners, and until the beginner fufills these requirements, to be trained as a student is not possible. When the student makes their pledge to undergo training, they are assigned further Practices, Prayers and Chants (Zikr) which is remembrance of Allah and a key component of training.

Naqshbandi Silat Training Levels (Darajat) are as follows:

1). Amir-Leader/Commander (Black Belt)
2). Mu’alim – Teacher (Green Belt)
3). Mubtadi - Beginner Student (Yellow Belt)
4). Musta'id - Intermediate Student (Red Belt)
5). Murid - Serious Student (White Belt)

Every person carrries their Silat within.

Oh, You who have believed, persevere; be supreme in steadfastness; be firm on the battlefield; keep a standing army ready to defend you and fear Allah that you may be victorious... - Holy Quran - Surah Al-Imran Ayah 200

Verily We have granted thee a manifest Victory

Victory from Allah and an imminent conquest

Varzesh Bastani, meaning ‘ancient sport’ or Varzesh Pahlavani, meaning ‘the sport of heroes’ is a traditional Iranian system of athletics. Originally used to train warriors, Varzesh-e Bastani combines martial arts, calisthenics, strength training, spirituality, ethics, devotion, literature, art, and music. Varzesh-e Bastani is practiced in a dome structure called the ‘Zurkhaneh’ which, when translated into English, means house of strength.

It fuses elements of pre-Islamic Persian culture (Zoroastrianism, Mithraism, and Gnosticism) with the spirituality and code of ethics of Shia Islam and Sufism.

The roots of Zurkhaneh stretch back to the time of Ferdowsi’s “The Shahnameh”, or more commonly known as “The Book of Kings.” The history of Varzesh-e Bastani can best be described by dividing its heritage into four major epochs: The Mystical Era, the Parthian Era, the Islamic Era and the Contemporary Era.

Javānmardi provides the Zurkhane with its code of honor, organizational principles, and rites of initiation. These ethics are similar to the Furūsiyya concept of Islamic Knights and Medieval Sufi ideals of chivalry discussed within Futuwwat (Knight-errant, Chivalry), emphasizing purity of the heart.

All Zurkhaneh athletes are expected to put themselves at the service of others. They are also taught that building physical strength does not give them permission to become a bully. Instead, the athlete must be guided by humility and generosity.

Imam Ali is viewed as the first javan mard (gentleman) and stories of his chivalrous behavior as well as other Persian epic heroes serve as a guiding light to the athletes training and teaching them to truly become real life heroes.

Manouchehr Moshtagh Khorasani (Razmafzar Founder) and Isa Martell (Razmafzar USA) above are discussing the principles of Javanmardi in Persian culture. See the book "Persian Archery and Swordsmanship : Historical Martial Arts of Iran" for more information.

Some of these principles include:

1) Follow the way of manliness (javānmardi), and volunteer to perform good deeds
2) be honest (rāsti), and tell the truth at all times
3) keep secrets (sattāri)
4) show magnanimity (moravvat) toward friends and enemies
5) safeguard (emānatdāri) material goods that are entrusted to one’s care
6) keep promises (vafā be ahd)
7) honor the salt (haqqe namak). That is, if you share food with someone, then you are bound & indebted to that person.

All the disciplines that ancient Iranians practiced on the battlefield are present in the Zurkhaneh. The symbolic movements represent the art of war. They are martial exercises that mimic the bow and arrow, maces, and wrestling. These disciplines were brought together and were gradually stylized into a symbolic form. The movements were ordered and disposed in sequence. This sequence is linked to philosophy, and every movement has a specific meaning, rhythm & technique.

Gholamreza Takhti

Jahan Pahlevan is the highest rank of Pahlavani in the Iranian army before the Arab invasion. This was the title given to Rostam, the legendary Pahlevan of Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh. The contemporary Gholam Reza Takhti (pictured above) is another Pahlevan who was given this title. He was an Iranian Olympic Gold-Medalist wrestler and Varzesh-e Bastani practitioner. Popularly nicknamed Jahān Pahlevān ("The World Champion") because of his chivalrous behavior and sportsmanship (Javanmardi in Iranian culture), he was the most popular athlete of Iran in the 20th century, although dozens of Iranian athletes have won more international medals than he did. Takhti is still a hero to many Iranians. He is listed in the FILA wrestling hall of fame.

Takhti tended to act fairly when competing against rivals during his career, something which originated from traditional values of Zurkhaneh, a kind of heroic behaviour that epitomizes chivalrous qualities known as Javanmardi. For instance, he once had a match with Russian wrestler Alexander Medved who had an injured right knee. When Takhti found out that Medved was injured, he avoided touching the injured leg and tried to attack the other leg instead. He lost the match, but showed that he valued honorable behavior more than reaching victory.

Literal translation:
Learn modesty if you desire knowledge
A high land would never be irrigated

Abbas Mirza

Nader Shah Afshar

Nader Shah Afshar (Persian: نادر شاه افشار‎; also known as Nader Qoli Beyg نادر قلی بیگ or Tahmāsp Qoli Khan تهماسپ قلی خان) (August 1688[5] – 19 June 1747) was one of the most powerful Iranian rulers in the history of the nation, ruling as Shah of Iran (Persia) from 1736 to 1747 when he was assassinated during a rebellion. Because of his military genius as evidenced in his numerous campaigns throughout Middle East, Caucasus, Central and South Asia, such as the battles of Herat, Mihmandust, Murche-Khort, Kirkuk, Yeghevard, Khyber Pass, Karnal and Kars, some historians have described him as the Napoleon of Persia, Sword of Persia, or the Second Alexander.

Nader Shah was an Iranian who belonged to the Turkmen Afshar tribe of Khorasan in northeastern Iran, which had supplied military power to the Safavid dynasty since the time of Shah Ismail I. He recaptured the island of Bahrain from the Arabs. In 1743, he conquered Oman and its main capital Muscat. In 1743, Nader started another war against the Ottoman Empire. It ended in 1746 with the signing of a peace treaty, the Treaty of Kerden, in which the Ottomans agreed to let Nader occupy Najaf & Karbala.

His numerous campaigns created a great empire that, at its greatest extent, briefly encompassed what is now part of or includes Iran, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the North Caucasus, Iraq, India, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Pakistan, Oman and the Persian Gulf. Nader Shah has been described as "the last great Asiatic military conqueror".

He did not have a permanent home - his military camp was his court; his palace was his tent, and his closest confidants were his bravest soldiers ... Undaunted in battle, he brought courage, and was always in the thick of danger among his brave men, as long as the battle lasted ... He did not neglect any of the measures dictated by foresight ... Nevertheless, the repulsive greed and unprecedented cruelties that wore his subjects, ultimately led to his fall, and the extremes and horrors that were caused by him, made Persia cry. He was adored, feared and cursed at the same time.

Derafsh Kaviani

Abu Muslim Khorasani

Abu Muslim Khorasani was a Persian general in service of the Abbasid dynasty, who led the Abbasid Revolution that toppled the Umayyad dynasty. His heroic role in the revolution and military skills, along with his conciliatory politics toward Shia, Sunnis, Zoroastrians, Jews, and Christians, made him extremely popular among the people.

His murder was not well received by the residents of Khurasan, and there was resentment and rebellion among the population over the brutal methods used by the Abbasid dynasty, He became a legendary figure for many in Persia, and several Persian heretics started revolts claiming he had not died and would return; the latter included his own propagandist Ishaq al-Turk, the Zoroastrian cleric Sinbad in Nishapur, the Abu Muslimiyya subsect of the Kaysanites Shia, and al-Muqanna in Khurasan. Even Babak Khoramdin claimed descent from him.

Sinbad or Sindbad was an Iranian nobleman from the House of Karen, who incited an uprising against the Abbasid Caliphate in the 8th century.

Sinbad the Magus was a Zoroastrian nobleman, who was a native of a village called Ahan in Nishapur, Khorasan. He most likely belonged to the ancient House of Karen, formerly one of the seven great houses of the pre-Islamic Parthian and Sasanian eras. Khorasan had originally been a fief of the Karenids, but the family lost control of the province at the battle of Nishapur during the Arab conquest of Iran, thus forcing many Karenid nobles to withdraw to Tabaristan, where a branch of the family, the Qarinvand dynasty, had managed to withstand the Arab incursions.

Following the betrayal and subsequent death of the Iranian general Abu Muslim by the Abbasid caliph al-Mansur (r. 754-775) in 755, the enraged Sinbad revolted. He captured the cities of Nishapur, Qumis, and Ray, and was called "Firuz ispahbadh" ("the victorious ispahbadh"). At Ray, he seized the treasuries of Abu Muslim. Most of his supporters were from Jibal and Tabaristan—the Dabuyid ruler, Khurshid (r. 740–760), supported the anti-Abbasid rebellion of Sinbad, and was in return given a part of Abu Muslim's treasure.

Sinbad allegedly preached that "Abu Muslim has not died, and when Mansur meant to slay him, he chanted God's great name, turned into a white dove and flew away. Now he is standing with Mahdi and Mazdak in a castle of copper and they shall emerge by and by." This, however, is a misrepresentation of Sinbad, whose intention by revolting, was most likely to remove the Muslims from power.

A force of 10,000 Abbasid troops under Jahwar ibn Marrar al-Ijli was shortly sent towards Sinbads army, they clashed between Hamadan and Ray, where Sinbad was defeated and routed. According to the historian Ibn Isfandiyar, countless of Abu Muslim's and Sinbad's supporters were killed in the defeat and that their bones were still noticeable in 912. Sunpadh then fled to Tabaristan, but was killed there by one of Khurshid's cousins, ostensibly because he had failed to show the man proper respect. It is possible, however, that the murder was instigated by Khurshid, in the hope of acquiring the remainder of Abu Muslim's treasure.

His courage in facing the invading Arabs and resisting the forces of Islam have gained him legendary status in Persian folklore and numerous stories and fables have been written about him and his adventures including Sinbad, Aladdin and the Magical Lamp as well as Sinbad and the 40 thieves of Baghdad and Scheherazade's 1001 nights.

Yaqub Leis Saffarid

Mazyar (Middle Persian: Māh-Izād; Mazandarani/Persian: مازیار‎, romanized: Māzyār), was an Iranian prince from the Qarinvand dynasty, who was the ruler (ispahbadh) of the mountainous region of Tabaristan from 825/6 to 839. For his resistance to the Abbasid Caliphate, Mazyar is considered one of the national heroes of Iran by twentieth-century Iranian nationalist historiography. His name means "protected by the yazata of the moon".

Mazyar rebelled against the Abbasid Caliphate, an act which was widely supported by the native Zoroastrians, who began plundering the Muslim villages and the Abbasid-controlled border regions. Mazyar tried to secure the loyalty of the noblemen of Tabaristan and imprisoned anyone he did not trust. According to the medieval historian Ibn Isfandiyar in his Tarikh-e-Tabaristan, Mazyar is said to have proclaimed: Afshin, the son of Kavus, Babak Khorramdin, and I had made an oath and allegiance that we take the country back from the Arabs and transfer the government and the country back to the family of Kasraviyan.

Mazyar was betrayed by his brother Quhyar, who captured him and surrendered him to al-Mu'tasim, Mazyar was brought to Samarra, where he was executed. His body later was gibbeted along with the body of Babak Khorramdin. Mazyar's brother Quhyar was shortly after killed by his own Daylamite soldiers because of his betrayal of Mazyar. This marked the end of the Qarivand dynasty. This left the Tahirids as the rulers of Tabaristan, and Qarin I was restored as the ruler of the Bavand dynasty as a vassal.

Babak Khoramdin

Banu Khoramdin

Lieutenant Commander Artunis. 540-500 B.C.E. Lieutenant Artunis was the Commander of the Archaemenid Persian army, and the daughter of Artebaz Sephabod (Lieutenant General) during the reign of Darius the Great. The name Artunis means "True and Faithful".

Arash Kamangir

Surena or Suren, also known as Rustaham Suren (died 53 BC) was a Parthian sepahbod ("general" or "commander") during the 1st century BC. He was the leader of the House of Suren and was best known for defeating the Romans in the Battle of Carrhae.

Under his command Parthians decisively defeated a numerically superior Roman invasion force under the command of Marcus Licinius Crassus. It is commonly seen as one of the earliest and most important battles between the Roman and Parthian empires and one of the most crushing defeats in Roman history.

"Surena" remains popular as a name in Iran. "Surena" is the Greek and Latin form of Sûrên. As "Suren", the name remains common in Armenia. Suren means "the heroic one", Avestan sūra (strong, exalted). He is credited with developing new ways of combat including hit and run also known as the "Partisan" (Parthian) way of combat.

According to various texts, Iran possessed warships and the ships equipped with the weapons and materials used in war since the Achaemenid era, and the evidences indicating the existence of those ships have been found in archeological investigations.

It has been also documented that the Iranian Navy was very active during Achaemenid king Darius the Great (reigned 522-485 BC) and his son King Xerxes (in Persian: Khasha Yar Shah). During King Xerxes (reigned from 485-465 BC), for a short time the Iranian Navy was commanded by Artemis, a female admiral, around 480 BC.

The exact birth-date and birthplace of Artemis are unknown. Since the reliable evidences indicate that she was appointed as the Iranian Admiral in 480 BC, she must have been 30-40 years old at the time. Therefore, her birth-date most likely could have been between 520-510 BC. It has been recorded that Artemis was from a noble family and she joined the Persian Army when she was very young.

Artemis participated in many battles, and in every battle she acted like a leader and her inspiring energy would quickly ignite the enthusiasms of other soldiers and officers. One of her famous battles was the Battle of Salamis, according to historical documents king Xerxes personally issued an official order and appointed Artemis as the Iranian Admiral. In the battle with the Greeks and on the point of being captured by enemy, Artemis managed to disappear from the scene in an unusual way and very professionally.

Xerxes watching from a distant hill-side could see what happened and he was full of praise for Artemis’s bravery. She then navigated back to the Iranian front, where, according to Herodotus, Xerxes declared “My men have turned into women and my women into men!” Shortly after, Athens was captured and the Athenians and Spartans were driven back to their last line of defense.

Rostam (Persian: رستم‎ [rosˈtæm]) is a legendary hero in Persian mythology, the son of Zāl and Rudaba, whose life and work is described in the epic poem Shahnameh. Rostam was always represented as the mightiest of Iranian paladins (holy warriors), and the atmosphere of the episodes in which he features is strongly reminiscent of the Parthian period. He was immortalized by the 10th-century Persian poet Ferdowsi in the Shahnameh, or Epic of Kings, which contains pre-Islamic Iranian folklore and history. He rode the legendary stallion Rakhsh and wore a special suit named Babr-e Bayan in battles.

Darius the Great

Darius the Great, was the third Persian King of Kings of the Achaemenid Empire, reigning from 522 BCE until his death in 486 BCE. He ruled the empire at its peak, when it included much of West Asia, parts of the Caucasus, parts of the Balkans (Thrace-Macedonia, and Paeonia), most of the Black Sea coastal regions, Central Asia, as far as the Indus Valley in the far east and portions of north and northeast Africa including Egypt (Mudrâya), eastern Libya, and coastal Sudan.

A major event in Darius's life was his expedition to punish Athens and Eretria for their aid in the Ionian Revolt and subjugate Greece. Although ultimately ending in failure at the Battle of Marathon, Darius succeeded in the re-subjugation of Thrace, expansion of the empire through the conquest of Macedon, the Cyclades and the island of Naxos and the sacking of the city of Eretria.

Cyrus The Great

Cyrus The Great Ruled the largest Empire of his day, and is known for granting many freedoms to his subjects. Over the centuries many kings and conquerors have been given the moniker, “The Great,” but some say that the figure who deserved this title the most was Cyrus the Great, the ancient King of Persia.

Even though he was born and ruled more than 2,500 years ago, many modern leaders today still claim Cyrus as their primary inspiration and hero. He was a brilliant military leader, but he is even more revered as a wise and tolerant ruler. Once Cyrus conquered a nation he allowed those other realms he absorbed to manage themselves and to keep their customs and religions. Cyrus was said to have respected the basic human rights of the common man more than any other ruler of his time.

Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds

Zarathustra was an ancient Iranian prophet who founded what is now known as Zoroastrianism. His teachings challenged the existing traditions of the Indo-Iranian religion and inaugurated a movement that eventually became the dominant religion in Ancient Persia. He was a native speaker of Old Avestan and lived in the eastern part of the Iranian Plateau, but his exact birthplace is uncertain. By the age of thirty, he experienced a revelation during a spring festival; on the river bank he saw a shining Being, who revealed himself as Vohu Manah (Good Purpose) and taught him about Ahura Mazda (Wise Lord) and five other radiant figures. Zoroaster soon became aware of the existence of two primal Spirits, the second being Angra Mainyu (Destructive Spirit), with opposing concepts of Asha (order) and Druj (deception). Thus he decided to spend his life teaching people to seek Asha. He received further revelations and saw a vision of the seven Amesha Spenta, and his teachings were collected in the Gathas and the Avesta.

Disciples of Zoroaster centered in Nineveh. Eventually, at the age of about forty-two, he received the patronage of queen Hutaosa and a ruler named Vishtaspa, an early adherent of Zoroastrianism (possibly from Bactria according to the Shahnameh). Zoroaster's teaching about individual judgment, Heaven and Hell, the resurrection of the body, the Last Judgment, and everlasting life for the reunited soul and body, among other things, became borrowings in the Abrahamic religions, but they lost the context of the original teaching.

Zoroaster emphasized the freedom of the individual to choose right or wrong and individual responsibility for one's deeds. This personal choice to accept aša and shun druj is one's own decision and not a dictate of Ahura Mazda. For Zoroaster, by thinking good thoughts, saying good words, and doing good deeds (e.g. assisting the needy, doing good works, or conducting good rituals) we increase aša in the world and in ourselves, celebrate the divine order, and we come a step closer on the everlasting road to Frashokereti. Thus, we are not the slaves or servants of Ahura Mazda, but we can make a personal choice to be co-workers, thereby perfecting the world as saoshyants ("world-perfecters") and ourselves and eventually achieve the status of an Ashavan ("master of Asha").
